Closer

Project 3.0 rolls on with the renovation of the Roosevelt!

We picked up the temporary walls from a previous art show to frame up the bathrooms with. We have the dividing wall in between the male and female bathrooms framed up - so now everything is ready for plumbing; which we will knock out tomorrow. Thanks to Isaiah & Craig for helping out today.
We have one custom made concrete sink (6 feet) already cast. We have a diesel generator that we converted to run on used vegetable oil to power the Heavy Metal BBQ; we also have the used oil from 2 local busineses.

The plan here is to do whatever we need to have functioning bathrooms for the Heavy Metal BBQ on January 1st. During the month of January 09 we are planning to finish the bathrooms with custom cast concrete sinks, custom LED light display and of course permanent walls. A host of other bells & whistles are in store for that buildout.

We are aiming to demonstrate a slice of what the total buildout will look like by knocking out the bathrooms full tilt.

Onwards towards Heavy Metal BBQ!

The Project 3.0 team is holding the first event at the Roosevelt - Heavy Metal BBQ featuring all healthy and organic food. The Meditteranean tapas restaurant the Nest - currently under construction next door - has generously agreed to provide a sample of their wares. Beer will be available courtesy of the Project 3.0 crew in addition to Bryan Roberts' AWARD WINNING chili!

The Heavy Metal BBQ will be filmed for our upcoming show "On a Heavier Note". DJ Shard (Steve Francois with Tek-Nique Entertainment) and DJ Rudeboy (Rudy Arnauts of Zenlofts & the Campus TV) knocked out a great guest DJ set on WMNF 88.5 FM's metal show Psycho Realms last night.

Looks like DJ Rudeboy will be a regular spinning the Vntage Vinyl at least once a month from now on!

In the meantime we are racing against the clock to get functional bathrooms in the building for the event. We just put down the new concrete overlay for the bathroom floors over the past two days. The concrete mix was supplemented by a fly ash aggregate which reduces the overall amount of concrete used. The material was kindly contributed by Seperation Technologies:

We also picked up our plumbing permit from the building department - the Friendly Plumber is coming over in the am!

Introduction.

Project 3.0 is a Tampa Florida based collaborative of talents uniting toward a new business paradigm. That paradigm can best be described as an open source collaborative that utilizes web 2.0 technology to advance it's objectives through the execution of offline projects.

You can download an intro package on the core team here:

The free residential retrofit discussed in the package will launch in 2009 once the site infrastructure is in place.

One of the central themes of our webcast wil be the conversion of the old Tampa Brew Co. building to a zero energy use. Progress will be documented in weekly episodes & will be packaged in an entertaining wrapper.

Here is our latest press coverage on the project:

This is our other project; the first Earthship to be build in Florida:

This article made the front page of the Tampa Tribune and was also featured 8 times that week on Fox 13 news. It was the most watched story that week.

Here is Bryan on that newscast:

The idea here is that our original content serves as a catalyst to attract like-minded participation.
